Working on a rainy bank holiday feels a lot less miserable than working on a lovely sunny bank holiday would do. And actually, it was really nice to have a day that was (almost) completely free of meetings and just be able to get on with things. It made me think that maybe I'd really like having a fully remote job, if it didn't involve spending five hours a day in videocalls. Not that my current job could be fully remote in normal circumstances; I think we can be more flexible, but ultimately, enough of my team need to be onsite each day to provide in-person support to staff and students who need it, and if my team need to be onsite, I need to be there as well to support them. I'm hoping I can have a couple of regular working from home days a week, whenever we stop working remotely full-time, but I don't think I can manage more than that.

Working on the bank holiday also meant I was up early enough to go for a walk in the bluebell woods before the rain set in. Last weekend they were only just coming out, but there's a proper carpet of blue now.

A curving spray of bluebells in the foreground, with more bluebells and green leaves filling the background.
