Rainy Wednesday (118/365)

It's been raining most of the day, which is novel and exciting as it hasn't rained for quite some time. (I think the last precipitation we had was actually snow, two and a bit weeks again.)

Also in "novel and exciting", I had an hour and a half between meetings this morning and managed to get myself into deep focus setting up a spreadsheet, which is something I haven't been able to do for a long time. Mostly the gaps between meetings are so short I don't have the time to work on anything big, so I answer emails instead, and end up doing the important work at the end of the day when I'm knackered. (I ended up doing that today, as well, on a different piece of work.)

I am knackered, as always, but looking forward to Sewing Bee tonight. (I had been wondering about alternating watching Sewing Bee live and going to my Zoom knitting group, but actually I'm increasingly finding that I don't want to do online socialising, when so much of work is online meetings; my attendance at knitting group had dropped off since January anyway, and sitting on the sofa just watching something is a much more appealing prospect.)

Like you, I find that after spending lots of time on Zoom for work, I'm not very keen on spending my social time on it as well. I've missed a lot of cons this year because of it, because I need time to recover from all that video.

I tried a couple of online cons last year but between video meetings feeling too much like work and my usual socialising technique being "drift around and eventually bump into someone I know" and that being much harder online, I didn't find they worked for me at all.

It's so satisfying when there is time to really get into something. Sometimes I wonder wow, why is my productivity being great when it is 5pm (not right now) and of course it's not just that I've digested lunch, it's that I'm not being interrupted.

We could definitely have done without Certain Things, but there you go. And that was the spreadsheet I had a lovely time setting up, so it's not all bad.

I was quite excited because I have the midweek garden watering shift and JW has the weekend, so I have won the rain jackpot this time round.

We've finally had rain this week too, the garden was very much in need of it, I'd had to water my pots, which is not something I'd expect to be doing in April!

I'm glad you got some time to focus at least.

There are definitely advantages to being a terrible gardener who doesn't really grow anything!

My tree peony better be gorgeous when it flowers given the amount of time I've spent wrapping it up in frost protection fleece and then unwrapping it again!

Back to rain here too although we managed a walk in the forest this morning before it really came on.
