Definitely not firing on all cylinders

At lunchtime today, I put my lunch in the microwave, nipped off to the loo, came back to the kitchen and realised that my kindle wasn't on the table where I thought I'd put it. I had a horrible moment where it seemed all too plausible that I might have been distracted enough to have put it in the microwave with my lunch, but fortunately it turned out I'd just left it in my office.

Later, I sat back down at my desk after popping along the corridor to speak to someone, took off my mask and tried to put on my computer glasses, only to realise that I was still wearing my seeing-things-other-than-computers glasses and trying to put the computer glasses on top of them.

At that point, I decided it was time to give up and go home.

Sympathies. I had a horrible moment yesterday morning, when I thought I might have put my phone in the washing machine with the bundle of clothes I was carrying. Great relief when I found I hadn't.

It was actually at quarter to, which meant I just got to walk home through the Parks which are closing at 6 this week (but were a bit later than that today).

I am watching the Monday night BBC2 quizzes and trying very hard to ignore the voice in my head saying I should read the papers for the committee meeting I have on Wednesday or the applications for Friday's shortlisting...

It might have to be, though it's the first time I've been to this one so I want to look like I'm taking it seriously!

The thing with the glasses just makes me glad that I get on with varifocals for this, because otterwise it would be a constant nightmare for me.

Anyway, solidarity with work being harrrd. I basically had a meeting-filled day, including a straight run from 11:00 to 13:45 (which overran by 45 minutes, so I was Very Hungry by the time it finished - usually I lunch at 12:30 and Just Cope with meetings that run till 13:00).

My seeing-things-other-than-computers glasses are varifocals, but my eyes are now so middle-aged and crap I also need separate glasses for looking at computers because they are at the wrong height and distance for varifocals to work.

Poor you! I've done similar things like putting my house keys in the fridge with some shopping and then panicking when I couldn't find them. Glad the kindle wasn't lost.

I am normally a bit more with-it, but the current stuff is taking up a lot of brainspace.

I like to think of myself as being with-it, but am increasingly forced to acknowledge that I am not - as with you, I have a lot of current stuff.
