And not before bloody time either, given that it's the 29th of May. It is nice to be able to have the back door and windows open and not wear a cardigan, and it was warm enough earlier for a long swim in the lake where we saw baby coots, a grebe and a heron.

Possibly foolishly, I have celebrated the warm weather by ordering some rainbow sandals.

It's mostly that buying sandals on the first warm day of the year may prove to be overly optimistic about continuing warmth!

I've got some very similar Teva sandals, each strap is a different color rather than them all being rainbow colors.

And I've been wearing them today and the last few days without feeling foolish!

I don't think the sandals themselves are foolish, I'm just a bit dubious about that possibility of continuing sandal weather!

I dislike wearing socks but dislike having cold feet even more, so I'm always happy when we reach the point in the year where I can mostly give up wearing socks, and I certainly hope it is here now, or soon. :)

Cool sandals. And I love Tevas.

I aired the house on Friday with the back door and as many windows as possible open. Very little traffic noise, lovely breezes. Bliss. New cat isn't to be allowed out (FIV+) so now we have to work out how to air the place without any escapes.

Alas, today's warm weather has reminded me of the problems of summer in suburbia, as the people a few houses away are having a Very Loud Barbecue in their garden.

Ah yes. Our next-door-neighbours in the looming modern house have a huge brick-built installation (a whole oven plus barbie and who knows what else). We've not yet seen (or smelled) it in use. (They have two life-size lion statues too--an "accident" at an auction apparently.

We've had indoor cats for the best part of a quarter century. We've not lost one yet.
