I do quite a lot of walking in my everyday life - I do have a car but central Oxford is not really somewhere people commute to by car, and I often have to walk across town to meetings as well as trying to get out and walk round the park in my lunch breaks - but none of that is quite the same as getting out into the countryside, so I do try to get out for a proper walk every weekend unless it's really horribly wet. And when I can't get out I definitely notice the difference in my mental health.
(Then again, I know that I'm lucky to live very close to the countryside, on the outskirts of a small city with a lot of green space - when we lived in Coventry it felt like much more of an effort to get out of the city.)
