Jul. 6th, 2015 07:02 pmI seem to have gone off knitting. Or at least, it's still quite nice to have something to occupy my hands, but the knitting-as-fandom aspect that involves spending hours hanging out on Ravelry and talking about knitting on Twitter and listening to knitting podcasts while I knit is currently leaving me cold. Partly that may be because summer isn't prime knitting time; partly it's because so much of the interaction takes place during the working day; partly the knitting fandom has got swamped by people talking about their "creative identities" and how to turn their hobbies into a business and similar things which leave me stone cold; and partly I'm getting to a stage where I have so many shawls and pairs of socks it's hard to get excited about making more. And maybe it's also partly that knitting was the thing I did to get through depression, and now I'm not depressed* I don't feel the need to knit obsessively any more.
