The Affair of the Mysterious Letter is the first Alexis Hall book I bought, though not the first I ended up reading by a long way. It's a kind of steampunk Lovecraftian reimagining of Sherlock Holmes, probably by way of BBC Sherlock, with a gender-flipped sorceress Holmes (Shaharazad Haas) and a buttoned-up Victorian (though gay and trans) Watson (Captain John Wyndham) trying to solve a case of attempted blackmail. I thought this was great fun.

My She Who Became the Sun hardback being a bit big for the journey, I turned to my Kindle and ended up reading Boyfriend Material, which I'd bought at some point for 99p. It's certainly a lot of fun.

I was reading that bit in bed last night. It was just what I needed.

Ooooh. (I am signed up to Letters from Watson this year, and the Discord is pretty active, but I don't think I've seen this particular Sherlock reimagining mentioned.)

I've quite enjoyed the other Alexis Hall books I've read, so I'll add this to the list :-)
