It is also relevant that neither I nor my partners drive, so the choice isn't "take your own car or take transit," it's between public transit, a cab or rideshare, and doing things only in walking distance. And I think the CDC is reasonable in classifying cabs and rideshare as "public transit" to which the mask requirement applies.
