I don't think it's the age gap with Malcolm (the age gap between me and my partner is only a couple of years less, and I was 22 when we met) so much as the fact that he used to be her teacher, and has only known her in any other context for about five minutes. And then Pullman has Hannah tell him it's OK, because they're both adults now.
