We're enjoying it, but a big part of the attraction is that it's very local and only the Bourton-on-the-Water to Charlbury leg actually required an overnight stay. (We then stayed in Charlbury and carried on the next day, but we could have got the train back to Oxford from Charlbury.) I don't know that it would be worth a special journey - it's mostly pleasant countryside, but nothing spectacular.
