I haven't seen Slings and Arrows*, but from what I've heard about it I did think it sounded similar. (Felix is also haunted by a ghost, in this case of his daughter Miranda; according to Atwood when I saw her talking about the book a couple of months ago, her solution to the problem of trying to include a teenage girl with no knowledge of the world in a novel with a contemporary setting.)
