Remote meetings = MOAR CATS (14/365)
Jan. 14th, 2021 07:32 pmI don't mind remote instead of in-person meetings as much as some people (for me there are quite a lot of upsides to not having to be in the same room as other people, plus I can knit in the meetings where I mostly just have to listen and not participate much or take minutes, and I don't find them as inaccessible as some people), but they are more tiring than in-person meetings, especially when you have a day of back-to-back meetings and are sat in the same chair, looking at the same screen, and don't even get to walk down the corridor to the next meeting, let alone between buildings.
On the other hand, remote meetings have cats. This morning's Faculty meeting started with C, who is the secretary, having a cat which had clearly decided it was a member of the faculty in front of her, and then the preamble to the follow-up meeting included two dogs (one of which was an adorable puppy), although sadly the person who blamed a stray raised hand on a kitten on their keyboard declined to turn on their camera to show the kitten to the rest of the meeting.
Still, five hours of Teams meetings in one day is Too Much. (It would have been six, but I didn't have the time or energy to attend the briefing about an exciting-sounding training opportunity I'd signed up for. And I wouldn't have the time to do the exciting-sounding training anyway, so it would have been a bit pointless really.)
