Oct. 3rd, 2015 09:30 pmSo apparently my response to the RSC's Henry V is to go and read all the Fluellen/Gower fic on AO3.
(It was a typically excellent RSC production, even if I'm finding the current pricing offputting. And it gained a lot from the fact that we'd already seen the same cast in both parts of Henry IV; that way, you really understand that this is the culmination of Harry's growth from the feckless Hal of the Eastcheap days to one of the greatest monarchs of England. Also, I couldn't help thinking of The Players' Boy and how that would be how it would have been originally. I'm jealous now of the people who will see the whole cycle in two days (is it?) later this year, though not of them having to go to the Barbican to do it.)
Also, special mention to Oliver Ford Davies' very funny Chorus, who seemed in many ways to reprise his Shallow from the earlier plays.
