Walking: the Oxford Canal and Stratfield Brake

We were going to drive to Abingdon and go for a longer walk via the Thames Path and Oxford Greenbelt Way today, but when, after a week of glorious sunny weather, today turned out to be overcast and a bit dismal we decided just to walk to Sainsbury's via the canal towpath and the nature reserve, which is just over 4 miles as a round trip.

There was lots of blackthorn blossom out along the canal towpath, and primroses in the woods; the trees are starting to come into leaf although some kinds, like the ones along the fringes of the lake on the nature reserve, are still completely bare with only the tiniest of buds visible. I'm pretty sure I saw a muntjac in the nature reserve.

Sadly, the cat who often hangs out in Sainsbury's wasn't there today, though I did bump into swimming friend V who was boggling at the Danone Orla Kiely yoghurts (a sentiment I heartily agreed with). The walk back, via the more direct road route, was fairly dull but it's only a mile and a half that way and doesn't take very long.

We were not the only ones out walking, I see! :o)
