Reading: Finna (219/365)

Ava is stuck in a minimum-wage job for a giant Swedish-owned furniture store with a blue and yellow logo which clearly bears no resemblance whatsoever to any actual giant Swedish-owned furniture stores that may ever have existed. She's not happy about having to come in on her day off to cover for a sick coworker, especially as that means her shift coincides with her very recent ex's. Unfortunately for Ava, her day is going to get even worse, when a wormhole to an alternate universe opens up in the store and she and her ex, Jules, as the two most junior employees, are sent to retrieve a customer who has accidentally wandered through.

Nino Cipri's novella Finna is an enjoyably daft multiple-worlds portal fantasy with a queer, anticapitalist heart and an entertainigly snarky narrative voice. I read it in two days, and found it utterly charming and great fun.
