Yesterday, I spotted a link to this Vice post claiming that QAnon thinks Trump will become President again on March 4, for reasons which don't make much sense to me. I tweeted a link to the post with a comment that it was starting to remind me of the Johnlock conspiracy, to which a former member of my team responded that they had been dating one of the originators of TJLC while they worked for me. Which is *not* something I ever expected to be told.

Goodness. I watched an hour-long YouTube video about TJLC while mending clothes a while back but can't remember much except that some people were anticipating that the BBC would show a secret finale instead of yet another depressing, rapey woman-in-peril drama. Which I suppose is, as you say, the same kind of wishful thinking, though on a much smaller scale.

That's not nearly enough degrees of separation from that degree of bonkersness in fandom! Though "had been" is at least reassuring.

I suppose the things feeling similar makes sense, though, in that it's a classic cult/true believer move. But goodness only knows where Qanon is going to end up.

Yes, they reassured me that they'd broken up with the person. But still. (I always worried a little, when the person still worked for me, that they were on FFA and I might suddenly recognise my office in a comment, but if they were/are I never spotted it.)
