I think I was in my 30s and on LJ before I even met anyone else who'd ever heard of her. I think a lot of her best books are the ones with ambiguous endings, but at 11 I couldn't quite grasp how that ambiguity might be a good thing. (I was 14 when I found Fire and Hemlock, and by then I could.)
