A hot day in the office (152/365)

I think that 24 degrees is actually the kind of temperature I'd normally think was perfect for a summer day, but a week ago I was wearing woollies and it's a bit of a shock to the system.

It's clearly also a bit of a shock to the facilities people at work, because several of the radiators still appeared to be emanating heat. (Fortunately not the one in my office, which I turned right down when we went back to 100% remote working in November, and never turned up again.)

Astoundingly, though, I have managed the first outing of my sandals (ETA: not the new sandals, my old ones which normally give me blisters the first time I wear them every year) without blisters, despite doing quite a bit of walking (to and from Summertown where I'd parked the car, and round the Parks at lunchtime). Normally I'd rub my feet with surgical spirit to toughen them up, but I don't appear to have any surgical spirit; however, I realised when I got into the office that what I did have (obviously) was a big bottle of hand sanitiser, so I applied that instead on the grounds that it's basically the same thing. It seems to have done the trick, anyway.

I actually had to work in my dining room because both the garden and my upstairs SW facing study were too hot in the afternoon!

Ah, that doesn't help - bare feet are always a great way to cool down (she says, sitting at her desk with bare feet)
