First day of holiday (83/365)

Normally I'd spend most of the first day of a holiday on a motorway. Today, I have:

- slept until 9am

- washed the 3.5m of wine-coloured cotton twill I have bought to make a boiler suit out of

- ordered a set of 48 coloured pencils, because I want to be able to sketch out ideas for making things (currently the idea I want to sketch is a top that would be half bi pride flag and half ace pride flag, because I can't work out if that would look amazing or like something a demented harlequin would wear)

- measured myself to work out which size I needed for the boiler suit, and then remembered that I was going to investigate My Body Model, took lots more measurements and now have my own personalised croquis

- printed out the instructions for the boiler suit

- been for a walk in the afternoon sunshine, which was warm enough that I felt perfectly comfortable in just a t-shirt

I think that counts as a good day.

I immediately wondered about vineyards and vintages when I saw 'wine-coloured'. I have been spending too long with my dad's Wine Society bottles.

That is a busy day! I'm impressed with the walk in the T-shirt. I was in windproof coat, wool jumper, and gloves.

Coloured pencils are great. antisoppist gave me a set for Christmas 2019, and they're really handy both for quick art that doesn't involve getting much our of clearing it up, and for sketches for designing things. And when you find that you can't live without an extra pencil that is the precise colour of [Norwegian fir trees on a sunny day in March] you can buy them individually.

T-shirt? It was freezing here! Sounds like a good start to your holiday.

It really does!

It wasn't t shirt weather here but we got a nice walk in! :o)

Mybodymodel looks interesting but I cannot draw and it looks like you have to be able to do fashion design. Pre-lockdown I was contemplating saving up for a pattern cutting course that would give me a block based on actual me. There is definitely a need for this kind of thing.

I was in a windproof hoody to start off with, but then I got too warm and had to tie it round my waist. I do tend to run hot, though, and I warm up a lot when walking.

It was probably about 12 degrees here, but in the sunshine that's definitely warm enough for just a t-shirt when walking!

I can't draw either but I was thinking I could trace the outlines from patterns. And they do have some introductory videos available if you sign up to the site, which I will look through.

Eh, I say make the flag top regardless. If you want it, why not? (I'm going to emerge from lockdown looking like an acid-trip hobbit and I am fine with that.)

I am a bit worried about body length but I have printed all 76 pages of the pdf pattern and am ready to get sticking!
