The stretchy fabrics definitely seem to move less. My cutter is Olfa which seems to be the biggest brand, and so is the small mat which came with it. The A1 mat is some random brand off Amazon (I know they're evil, but they're also reliable, and I couldn't see cutting mats in any of the indies I'm familiar with).
