Yes, at first I also liked that she had a sex life, but the clarification about Will was just weird, and then there was the whole bit about her liking the company of old men not because they wouldn't be attracted to her but because she wouldn't be attracted to them, which I found very strange.

I mostly like Malcolm, but his attraction to Lyra comes across as really skeevy, and I also felt that the book was setting her up as falling in love with him which is even worse.
